Cecilia Dapaah denies having $5m, GH¢48m in her bank accounts

Former Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Dapaah, has responded to news reports suggesting that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) had found significant amounts of money in her bank accounts.

According to reports, the OSP had frozen her bank accounts and allegedly discovered $5 million and GH¢48 million in her Prudential Bank and Société Générale Ghana accounts.

Dapaah’s lawyers have issued a statement denying the accuracy of these figures. They stated that the OSP’s application filed at the High Court did not disclose any specific amounts found in Dapaah’s accounts, and the media’s attribution of these figures to nameless and unverified sources is false. The lawyers also mentioned that even after the OSP clarified that they hadn’t disclosed specific amounts, the media continued to publish false stories.

The statement emphasized that the amounts reported were fabrications and demanded that the media house issue a retraction of the publications within three days. The lawyers warned that if the retraction is not issued, they would take legal action against the media outlet.
