Martin Kpebu labels Ghanaian politicians as “crooks” and “bad boys and girls”
Renowned legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has criticized Ghanaian politicians, attributing the country’s lack of progress in development to their actions. Kpebu expressed his views during an interview on Asempa FM, where he labeled most politicians in Ghana as “crooks” who prioritize personal enrichment over the nation’s interests.
Kpebu praised the late former President John Evans Atta Mills for his honesty and dedication to the country’s welfare, highlighting him as an exception among politicians. He stated that politicians from both major parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have been involved in corruption and dishonesty.
He called for greater scrutiny of politicians and suggested that their wealth and assets be investigated, as many individuals who hold political positions seemingly accumulate wealth beyond their known sources of income.
Kpebu’s remarks were fueled by recent incidents of alleged corruption and financial impropriety involving politicians. He emphasized the need for Ghanaians to hold politicians accountable and voiced concerns that unchecked corruption could lead the country astray.
The lawyer further pointed out that recent instances of substantial amounts of money being found in the possession of politicians, like the former Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, underscore the magnitude of the problem. He suggested that if thorough investigations were conducted into the finances of politicians, substantial amounts of money could potentially be recovered for the betterment of the country.
Kpebu’s comments reflect a common sentiment among citizens in various countries, where corruption and unethical behavior by politicians can lead to disillusionment and hamper national development.
