Henry Quartey bans political party symbols during festivities

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, has announced a ban on the display of political party paraphernalia during festivities in the region.

This decision was made in collaboration with the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to ensure a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere during various celebrations.

The goal of this decision is to prevent potential chaos or conflicts that could arise from political disagreements during festive occasions. The ban covers the entire Greater Accra Region, encompassing areas from Ada to Bortianor.

During a meeting held on August 14, 2023, to discuss regional plans, it was decided that no political party or traditional council within the region would be allowed to display any party-related items during festive periods.

Furthermore, the authorities also discussed restrictions on the movement of tricycles in specific designated areas within various assemblies. These areas include the Central Business District of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, as well as Krowor, La-Nkwantanag, Madina, Tema Metropolitan Assembly, and La Dadekotopon within the Greater Accra Regional enclave.

Henry Quartey stated that an official statement would be released soon to inform the public about the decision and its implementation. The ban on political party paraphernalia during festivities is intended to contribute to a peaceful and enjoyable atmosphere for all residents of the Greater Accra Region.
