Okwahu United Launches 50th Anniversary Logo, Eyes Return to Premiership

Okwahu United Football Club has officially unveiled its 50th Anniversary logo at a launch event held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Ineos Showroom, Silver Star Towers in Accra.

The new logo marks the beginning of the club’s journey toward celebrating five decades of football excellence and community impact.

Speaking at the event, CEO Nana Kwame  Dankwa highlighted the significance of the occasion: “Today’s event is basically to launch the official logo of the club.

The club was founded way back in 1975, and come this year, we’ll be 50 years. We launched this logo to officially begin the journey. I think Okwahu United has come very far.”

Despite currently playing in Ghana’s Division One League and sitting third on the table with seven games left, Nana Dankwa  expressed optimism: “We believe we belong in the Premier League. Unfortunately, we’re in Division One, but we are making amends. We believe that sooner rather than later, we’ll rise.

Fighting for 21 more points is not out of place, so we’re not giving up until the final whistle is blown. We urge our supporters to have faith in the team and support us—we’ll definitely get there.”

Looking ahead to the next 50 years, the club aims to leave a lasting legacy. “As we speak, we should have been able to point at certain projects, but we don’t have them yet.

The plan is to raise money and establish a legacy project. We don’t have a venue to play our games, so we’re working on getting one, building a clubhouse, setting up an office, and creating a fund to support our retired footballers. We want to make this official.”

Coach Prince Owusu echoed the belief in the team’s potential to return to the top flight: “It’s been a long journey, and now we have to fight our way back to the Premiership.

I think we have the men to do it—all we need is to come together. If we play our home games at our grounds, we’ll make it. It’s not easy playing away all season and still placing second. Others are playing at home and aren’t even close. If we had that advantage, we can do it too.”

Former player and former Black Stars goalkeeper Fatawu Dauda shared his journey with the club, Okwahu United gave me my first Premier League exposure, and from there, I got a National team call-up for the under 20.

"We are here to support and help push the team back to the Premiership."

Okwahu United are currently 4th on the Ghana's  Division One League Zone 3 table with 44 points from 23 matches.
