1D1F not possible, focus on industrialization – NDC MP

Member of Parliament for the Cape-Cost South constituency, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, has said he does not believe in the current government’s promise of establishing at least a factory in each district across the country because it is not workable and possible.

According to the former Deputy Trade Minister, the focus should rather be on industrialization and creating a manufacturing economy for Ghana based on value addition with resources that the country is endowed with.

He questioned the sense in creating factories in every district, “based on what, factories are created based on resources that they can feed on, rather they should be located where the resources are or the input.

“If we are going to export those products it must be based on access to ports, it is better to create industrial parks where you can bring factories together that can work on economic of scales and synergies.

“We need infrastructure like electricity, water, roads, it does not make sense what they are doing, jobs can be created based on a much better structured one than the lip service 1D1F”, he stated.
