 The first rule to the prevention of diabetes is to avoid eating late at night. The second probably is adopting an exercise routine to burn excess fat deposits in the body to stay fit.

While practicing the above, the choice of food one consumes plays a crucial role in the fight against this health condition.

There are plenty foods, mainly vegetables and fruits which fight diabetes; and avocado has been identified as one of the super foods that reduces the possibility of getting this health condition or even managing it.

Avocado: Avocado has lots of monounsaturated fats, which reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, according to medical website Healthline.

“That’s huge, because having diabetes doubles your risk for heart attack and stroke compared to someone without diabetes,” it said.

Study has revealed that almost 30g of avocado contains just three grams of carbohydrate, hence a perfect addition to the diet of a diabetic person.

Red onion: Raw or cooked, red onions contain loads of powerful diabetes-busting nutrients.  The combination of potassium, folate, flavonoids, and fiber make them excellent for both diabetics and very good for heart health.

Adding ½ cup per day to meals will provide all of the benefits without the stinky breath.

 

Leafy Greens: Leafy vegetables are not a surprising addition to a nutrient–packed meal as leafy greens play a big role in a diabetic’s diet.

Spinach, lettuce and other green leafy vegetables have the highest amounts of nutrients and will give the best benefits to diabetics.

Garlic: Garlic has been used to treat high blood pressure, cancers, and heart disease for years.

It has been shown to lower blood cholesterols, help prevent strokes, and lower blood pressure through its high antioxidant levels.

Carrots

Cooked or raw, carrots have a seriously powerful effect against diabetes.  Their high levels of vitamin A make them great for immune function and vision. There is also a study from Stanford University School of Medicine which reveals how carrots help to prevent type II diabetes.
