Aflao: NPA, security agencies to stop illicit fuel activities

The CEO of the National Petroleum Authority, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has assured Ghanaians that the NPA and the security agencies will work together to bring an end to illicit fuel activities in the Aflao enclave.

Dr Abdul-Hamid gave the assurance when he visited the Aflao border on Friday and met with the heads of all the security agencies at their posts.

The meeting was mainly to discuss how best the NPA and the security agencies can work together to bring an end to illicit fuel activities in the Aflao enclave.

He assured the security agencies of the Authority’s support in fighting the menace after they outlined some of their challenges, too.

Dr Abdul-Hamid also stated the need for improved working relations so that the goal can be achieved.

The team later visited some illegal fuel sites along the Aflao border to ascertain for themselves how these illegal operations are carried out.

“The Authority, together with the security agencies, will make sure these illegal activities are brought to a halt. Perpetrators of such crimes will be dealt with accordingly, by law,” he stated.

Dr Abdul-Hamid also visited the National Petroleum Authority’s Volta Regional Office where he interacted with the staff who shared some of their experiences and challenges.

He assured them of his commitment to ensuring that all their concerns and challenges are addressed for smooth operations.
