Akufo-Addo goes tough on Ghana’s Missions abroad

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cautioned heads of the Ghana Missions abroad to work cordially with their staff to provide an enabling environment that will cause employees to give out their best.

The President stated he has had reports of petty squabbles between ambassadors and staff which is contrary to his appeal for unity.

“Petty squabbles bring a complete breakdown in the relationship between ambassadors and staff which is unacceptable and four-day to the smooth running of our missions and occasionally unnecessary addition cost.”

The President said this when speaking at the opening of a four day conference of Heads of Ghana Missions.

The President, however, called on the Minister for Foreign Affairs to investigate and swiftly in dealing with the complaints lodged by head of mission about the misconduct of any officer of the missions.

Meanwhile Ghana’s Ambassador to Canada Lawyer Ayikwei Otoo pledged on behalf of his colleagues that they will head to the President’s advice.

He however urged President Akufo-Addo to give Heads of Ghana Missions and other foreign staff tax waiver on at least one vehicle they bring no matter the engine capacity.
