Felix Kwakye Ofosu, former Deputy Communication Minister, has expressed disappointment in President Akufo-Addo over the fight against corruption in the country.
Venting his frustration on the matter which has made successive governments unpopular on Metro TV’s Political Talk Show ‘Good Morning Ghana’ on Thursday, the affable politician expressed shock at the posture of the President of the Republic on corruption practices in the country.
“President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, prior to coming into power, promised to fight corruption with the zeal of a religious fanatic, but has suddenly shy away from the topic and decided against prosecuting corrupt appointees.
“It didn’t end by just being silence. Notable anti-corruption crusader like former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo has been unfairly treated. He has been forced to retire by the president,” he retorted.
He further explained that Domelevo’s woes began when he took his fight against graft to the doorstep of the president in the Kroll and Associate scandal; a development that nearly got him prosecuted.
Mr. Kwakye Ofosu further drum home his point indicating that the worst record of anti-corruption fight is better than the best fight by incumbent government.
“A minister was swiftly removed from her position under the NDC government for merely stating that she is looking to get 1million USD in her account before leaving her post. But some elements in this government have actually been caught misappropriating billions but are walking free.
“What I find most interesting is how President Akufo-Addo went completely silent on corruption in his 2021 State of The Nation Address, SONA,” he said.
Mr Kwakye Ofosu established that, it is more than evident that this government has failed woefully in its fight against the key opposing force to development; corruption.
