#Number 12: Anas, Ken Agyepong to face off in court
Anas Aremeyaw Anas has sued Kennedy Agyapong for 25 million Ghana cedis for defamation after incessant attacks on him over the journalist’s investigative film on football and politics.
The legal suit follows series of attacks on the award-winning journalist over explosive film he produced in collaboration with British media giant, BBC, to uncover rot in Ghana’s football governing body, GFA.
The maverick politician granted many interviews accusing Anas of being a swindler and blackmailer, threatening to expose him in his own rendition of investigative documentary titled “Who watches the Watchman”.
Mr. Agyapong had carried out his threat by circulating pictures of some persons purported to be the internationally acclaimed journalist and part 1 of his video “Who watches the Watchman”.
After releasing a supposed leaked tape to back his claims that Anas is corrupt, Kennedy Agyapong called for the lynching of Anas must for his nefarious acts on his tv station Net 2.
A lot of Ghanaians expressed concern at Mr Agyapong’s efforts to discredit Anas’ work ahead of the public viewing of the latest documentary, but that was understood after it emerged that Mr Agyapong’s name had been mentioned in that video.
