Students of St Louis senior high school in the Ashanti region Monday night attempted to demonstrate against the Headmistress of the school after the Ghana Education Service canceled the midterm break over the outbreak of coronavirus in the region.
The angry all-female students say they are fed up with inconsistencies in the Senior high school education management by the Ministry of Education which makes its difficult for both teachers and students to plan for their academic calendar.
Last night the entire student massed up at the headmistress residence with the intent to stage a protest against the headmistress over the cancellation of their mid-term break.
However, the timely intervention of the Police calmed down the students from carrying out their intention.
According to the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer ASP Godwin Ahianyor, it took the police a long time to convince the students to accept that the cancellation of their mid-term break was not initiated by their headmistress but rather the Ministry of Education.
He added, “currently calm has returned to the school and the students are going about their normal duties”
