President Akufo Addo, during his tour of the Ashanti region, meet the king of the Ashanti kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, and allegedly introduced Alan Kyeremanten and Afriyie Akoto as persons competing for his position. Many have questioned why President Akufo Addo didn't also mention the name of Dr. Mahamud Bawumia as a contender for his position.
Reacting to this alleged introduction of Alan Kyeremanten and Afriyie Akoto to the Asantehene, a member of the NDC communication team (Zongo Caucus), Alhaji Mohammed Naziru on 'Good Morning Africa' on Pan Africa television, has revealed that perhaps the NPP are beginning to break ties with Dr. Mahamud Bawumia that is why his name wasn't mentioned to the Asantehene.
According to Alhaji Mohammed Naziru, he is confused because he doesn't know if Dr. Mahamud Bawumia has abandoned his ambition to go for the Presidency, following the introduction of Alan Kyeremanten and Afriyie Akoto to the Asantehene. "It is strange to me because we are told that President Akufo Addo supports Dr. Mahamud Bawumia, but Akufo Addo yesterday introduced Alan Kyeremanten and Afriyie Akoto as people who are contesting for president."
He indicated that why would that happened if we are told that Dr. Mahamud Bawumia belongs to the camp of President Akufo Addo, and if you go to social media, most of the fanatics of President Akufo Addo are campaigning about breaking the eight with Dr. Mahamud Bawumia. So, the introduction made yesterday by President Akufo Addo was strange to him.
"President Akufo Addo could have told the Ashanti king as well that there is another one in the person of Dr. Mahamud Bawumia who is also competing for the presidency, but he didn't."
Alhaji Mohammed Naziru revealed that we need to be critical about the message that the introduction by President Akufo Addo to the Asantehene is sending out because the NPP when they begin their things, is how it happens.
"So, are the NPP beginning to break ties with Dr. Mahamud Bawumia? Because President Akufo Addo has visited the North and came back, but he didn't tell anybody that Dr. Mahamud Bawumia is contesting."
He added that if he were in the Bawumia camp, he would begin to ask himself questions.
