As I Grow donates PPE to some communities in the Eastern Region

The plights of deprived communities continues to deepen as they face major problems in various areas of development as the deadly COVID’19 pandemic also poses a major threat to such communities in the rural areas.

NGO (As I Grow) over the weekend went to the rescue of some communities is the Eastern Region to donate some PPE to the indigence.

The benefited communities includes Togodo, Adebonsera and it environs in the Yilo Krobo municipality in the Eastern Region.

The Director of (AS I GROW) NGO, Mr. Debrah Bekoe Isaac in an interview after the donation explained how this pandemic has affected the masses in the deprived communities.

He further explained that, observation per his area of influence shows that, the communities in areas his organization has carried out investigation revealed that, most of the communities lacks the immediate amenities that will provide good healthy lifestyle for them during this pandemic season.

“Most of the people in the communities have no knowledge about how to wear face mask and even sanitize their hands as well, I believe government is doing it best but there’s still more room for improvement” he said

“With the problem of health facilities most of the communities here don’t have it, talking about krutiase, Miawani,Togodo, New Asuoya, Adebonsera and Obuodaso including other areas, I think government should take a second look at these communities and help them with a health facility which I believe will go a long way in helping against the fight of COVID, 19” he stated

As I GROW (NGO) has provided various support to Farmers, women, children and youth in these communities in the form of donations (clothes, farm implement , medical support and educational logistics), women empowerment, educational sensitization on the menace of teenage pregnancy and youth advocacy work.

Due to these support and frequent survey in these areas, the organization has been able to deduce how this pandemic can wholly affect the entire population in these areas.

The Director, Mr Debrah Bekoe Isaac pointed out that upon his interaction with the communities most of the people do not even know the dangers, symptoms and the nature of the CORONA VIRUS, hence makes it more deadlier in these hinterlands.

The organization is therefore calling on individuals, government, stakeholders, NGOS and other bodies to trickle down their support to these areas in the supply of PPES and education on the spread of the virus.
