Bawumia is a failure – Nyaho Tamakloe

A founder member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, has described Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as a ‘failure’ for superintending over the shambolic Ghanaian economy.

According to Dr Tamakloe, Dr Bawumia has disappointed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Ghanaians, thereby urging him [Dr Bawumia] to resign.

Ghana’s economy under current administration, he stressed, was bad.

His assessment comes at the back of massive job losses in different sectors of the Ghanaian economy. About 1,700 workers of the newly formed Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited are expected to lose their jobs by the close of September, this year.

The media has also seen retrenchments as well as other sectors of the economy. Available data however indicates that over 16,000 jobs have been lost since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) assumed the reins of office.

“Look at companies we have here now, no jobs, the people are not working. People are laid off in thousands. So, that should be a great concern for the chairman of the economic management team. People are suffering. Go into the streets and you will see it; I see it,” Dr Nyaho Tamakloe affirmed in an interview on one of Eezy FM’s flagship programmes—‘Conversations with Mike Eghan.

Dr Nyaho Tamakloe also blamed the vice president for the recent happenings within the economy of Ghana.

“He [Dr. Bawumia] is in charge of the whole economy. The economic management team for the nation; he is the chairman. So, if the economy is going wrong he is the only one, one can talk to,” Dr Nyaho Tamakloe averred.

Consequently, the firebrand politician urged the Dr Bawumia to resign if he thinks he was facing challenges in his role as the lead manager of Ghana’s economy.

“Now if he has a problem or he is advising and no one is taking, all he has to do is to take his pen and resign. You see, I believe that strongly. And that’s what will be done in a civilised country; you disagree, your advice is not being adhered to, just leave the person,” Dr Nyaho Tamakloe said to the host of the show, Mike Eghan.

In the wake of the current economic hardship, Dr Nyaho Tamakloe cautioned that Dr Bawumia’s failure was likely to send the NPP back into opposition.
