Elected National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party Henry Nana Boakye has thrown his first shot at ‘discredited’ pollster Ben Ephson for predicting his defeat in the election he has just won.
Earlier when the poll of Mr Ephson emerged, Nana B called it a good omen as anyone Mr Ephson favours in polls end up losing, citing John Mahama’s 44.4% humiliation when Mr Ephson said he would get 54% as MyNewsGH.com reported at the time.
“I always pray that if Ben Ephson should come out with a poll that I’m involved in, that poll should never favour me. I’ve never liked his polls conducted over the years, so when I woke up today and I heard in the news that he’s predicted that I may lose the election, I said thank you God for answering my prayers, because it is a bad omen for me.
“In the run up to the 2016 elections, I was one of the fiercest critics of Ben Ephson’s poll and so I knew that he’ll never conduct a poll to favour me now that I’m contesting for the National Youth Organizer position. During the 2016 elections when it was obvious that majority of Ghanaians were yearning for Akufo Addo as President and he was sure to win by a wide margin, Ben Ephson’s poll said Akufo Addo would garner 38% of votes as against ex President Mahama’s 54% but at the end of the election, Mahama managed a paltry 44%, so I’ve never taken Ben Ephson’s polls seriously, it has lost credibility.” he said at the time.
“If he (Ephson) really conducted survey from the grounds he won’t have come out with that predictions. I read a certain leaked report from the National Security on your portal [he was speaking to our counterparts kasapafmonline.com] in the lead up to the weekend poll and I realised that the results from the election grounds tallied with their predictions.” he told host Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5. FM.
Ben Ephson who’s also the Managing Editor for the Daily Dispatch Newspaper is regarded by many to have lost credibility following his too many ‘offside’ polls beginning with Mahama’s and other NPP and NDC MPs who suffered upsets relying on polls from Mr Ben Ephson.
