Black Stars depart for Reykjavic ahead of Iceland friendly

The Black Stars of Ghana left Yokohama on Friday evening for the Scandinavian country of Iceland as they prepare to play Iceland on June 7.

The senior national team defeated Japan 2-0 on Wednesday in an international friendly in Yokohama Stadium and will be hoping to beat the 2018 World Cup debutants who have caused major upsets on the globe over the past two years.

The four-time African champions are using the game to prepare for the remaining qualifying games for the 2019 AFCON whilst the Northern Europeans will use it to assess their strength as they will face Nigeria in Group D of the 2018 World Cup.

The match will be played at the 15000-capacity Laugardalsvöllur Stadium in Reykjavik.
