But for Akufo-Addo’s charisma, NPP would have lost 2020 election – Kusi Boafo admits

Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Public Sector Reforms, Thomas Kusi Boafo has indicated that the NPP would have lost the 2020 elections if the party was led by any other politician.

According to him, the people who voted for the NPP were people who believed in Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and loved him no matter what.

To him, some appointees who should have given the people a reason to vote for the party were rather driving people away from it with their stinking attitudes.

Also, instead of ensuring that their work is done, some appointees also were riding on the back of the President’s achievement.

He indicated that in this second term, appointees will be watched and their activities taken seriously because the party has a project which they will not allow any appointee to taint.

“Those who voted did so for the love for Nana Addo. Nana Addo is Nana Addo like the NPP would have lost. Nana Addo is a consummate politician whose clout is unmatched in Africa. If we had sent any other politician, we would have lost the election but because of the love for Nana Addo, the people voted. Most of these appointees were riding on the back of the President.

This time around, we won’t give room for that. If you are appointed as an MCE, DCE and we hear that you are at loggerheads with your MP you’ll be sacked, you won’t stay for long on that seat at all. We expect that the MCEs and the DCEs will take on government’s projects and co-exist peacefully with their MPs,” he said on Accra-based Peace FM.
