Dr Ahmad Ahmad, president of Confederation of Africa Football has thrown his support behind backing Egyptian Star Mohammed Salah to win the Balon D’or following his exploits this season.
The former Chelsea and AS Roma had an amazing season with Liverpool in England, winning the golden boot with 32 goals and helping the club to the finals of the UEFA Champions League.
However, Salah got injured after 30 minutes in the final against Real Madrid, with Liverpool losing 3-1 to the Los Blancos.
Meanwhile, the CAF Footballer of the year has been tipped to make the final cut for the Balon d’Or shortlist and insisted the 25-year-old can pull a surprise at the World Cup and can go top even win the Balon D’or.
‘Everyone in the continent wants Salah to win the award, not only Egypt.
“It would be an honour for Africa if he wins as it would be an African player who won the award,’ he told Kingfut.com
