The Aflao Circuit Court has convicted Pascal Petersah, 25, who was captured on camera stealing phones and money at a shop at Abor, near Akatsi, in the volta region.
Pascal was unaware he was being captured on a Closed Circuit Television Video (CCTV) camera installed at the shop so when he managed to make away with mobile phones and cash.
Successful with the first act, he decided to return for more after 10 days but was arrested this time around.
Pascal Petersah, a head Porter appeared before the Aflao Circuit Court and has been sentenced to a GH¢3,600.00 fine or serve 4-years jail term in default after he pleaded guilty to the claim.
Mr. Michael Akemo, a Detective Police Inspector told the court presided over by Mr. Ali Baba Abature that the complainant is a businessman who owns a mobile phone shop at Abor whiles the accused lived at Aflao.
Narrating the incident, he said at about 10:34am on May 15, this year, the accused and one other visited the complainant’s shop under the pretence of purchasing a phone.
Mr. Akemo said under their modus operandi, the other person engaged the complainant in discussions about a phone he would have liked to buy, during which Petersah stole two Infinix and one nokia phone, all worth GH¢2,000.00 plus GH¢400.00 cash in a phone pact at the blind side of the complainant.
He said upon detecting the theft, the complainant reported to police, and exactly 10 days later, unsuspecting, Petersah returned to the shop apparently to steal again, unaware a CCTV installed there had captured his first act.
Mr. Akemo said the accused admitted the act and said he sold the phones in Lome, Togo, but denied operating with an accomplice.
