Nana Oye Lithur has thrown her weight behind former Electoral Commission chairperson, Mrs Charlotte Osei, emphasizing that she left an indelible mark as the first female EC chair in Ghana.
In a note she shared under her newly launched campaign tagged #IstandwithCharlotte on social media, the former Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection expressed her full support for the sacked EC boss.
“Charlotte Charlotte, what can I say? I am so proud of you! Little sister turned big sister. I just heard of your removal.
“You still remain our most erudite lawyer, God fearing public servant who reformed and revolutionalized the Electoral Commission as its First Female Chairman,” a portion of the note read.
According to the former NDC appointee, Mrs. Osei left the EC is in good shape and deserves commendation by all.
“You made sweeping changes at the NCCE and superintended over the best elections ever in 2016,” she said in the note.
Nana Oye urged her to hold her head up high, despite the sudden termination of her position as the head of Ghana’s Electoral Commission knowing that she has served her country well.
