Francis Asenso Boakye, a Deputy Chief of Staff, has escaped death after one vehicle in the presidential convoy got involved in an accident this morning, Asempanews.com has gathered.
The Deputy Chief of Staff was in one of the vehicles in the presidential convoy en route to Brong Ahafo Region for the much touted nationwide tour by the president.
Francis Asenso Boakye who sustained minor injuries was rushed to the hospital and has been treated and discharged.
According to sources, an articulated truck ran into the presidential convoy at 1:45 am at Konongo in the Ashanti Region.
The report said an articulated truck driver refused to stop when he was signaled by the outriders to do so hence, crashing into one of the cars in the fleet at Konongo.
One side of the vehicle he was traveling in was mangled after the crash.
The president, who was also in the convoy is reportedly safe, and has arrived at his destination.
Sources say the president led a cabinet meeting late Thursday and began the journey to Brong Ahafo soon after the meeting.
The Deputy Chief of Staff is reportedly well and is recovering.
