Cecilia Dapaah saga: NPP MP claims empty bedroom

Lawyer Andy Kwame Appiah Kubi, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for the Asante Akim North Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has expressed his support for auditing the lifestyles of politicians to verify the sources of their wealth.

He firmly asserted that he does not have any hidden cash in his bedroom and welcomed security agencies to conduct searches at his house at any time.

The respected legal practitioner expressed his disappointment that engaging in politics has resulted in a decrease in his earnings compared to when he was a full-time legal practitioner. He emphasized that his assets have not seen any improvement since 2017, as the assets he declared back then are the same ones he declared in 2020 after winning the Asante Akim North seat again. He made these statements as a panelist on TV 3’s Keypoints program last Saturday.

Regarding calls for investigations into the lifestyles of politicians, he openly supported the idea and encouraged thorough scrutiny. He sees it as an opportunity for him to demonstrate transparency and accountability. He also urged his fellow politicians to work towards dispelling the perception that politicians are involved in corrupt practices and luxurious living at the expense of ordinary Ghanaian citizens.
