Three fatalities, multiple injuries in collision between VIP bus and trailer truck
A tragic accident occurred on the Kumasi – Techiman highway, resulting in the death of at least three (3) people.
A VIP bus with registration number AP-1986-22, en route to Techiman in the Bono East Region, collided head-on with a trailer truck believed to be a Burkina vehicle with registration number BF 2315 F1 03, loaded with cereals and heading towards Kumasi.
The collision took place at Nkenkaasu, a town in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region. An eyewitness who spoke with Otec FM in Kumasi mentioned that the two vehicles crashed head-on, but the cause of the accident remains unclear. There are speculations that the driver of one of the vehicles might have veered off his lane, leading to the tragic collision.
In addition to the fatalities, several passengers sustained injuries and have been rushed to a nearby health facility for treatment. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the morgue.
As a result of the accident, the stretch of the road has experienced heavy traffic. The incident, which occurred on the early morning of Wednesday, August 2, 2023, has left the community and authorities in grief and shock.
