Kwesi Pratt warns of terrorist infiltration in Ghana, discloses present whereabouts
Kwesi Pratt Jnr., a seasoned journalist and the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, has brought to light that insurgent groups have infiltrated Ghana and have established dormant cells within certain regions of the country.
He made these revelations during an appearance on the Good Morning Ghana show hosted by Randy Abbey on Tuesday, August 2nd. Pratt drew attention to instances of insurgency in various West African nations, including Nigeria, Burkina Faso, and Ivory Coast.
Pointing out the situation, Pratt stated, “As of my last update, over fifty percent of Burkina Faso’s territory was under the control of Islamic insurgents. These insurgents have not only been active in Burkina Faso but also in Guinea, Mali, and other places. There are records indicating that insurgents have launched attacks on northern Togo and Northern Benin. There have also been reported incidents of attacks on the northern regions of La Cote de Voire.”
He further disclosed that he had encountered intelligence reports indicating that some insurgents affiliated with the Azawadi movement and ISIS have penetrated Ghana and have set up covert cells within the country, awaiting instructions.
“I have personally reviewed intelligence reports about Ghana, which suggest that a number of these insurgents have managed to infiltrate Ghana and establish what they refer to as ‘Sleeping cells.’ According to the most recent report I read, some of these insurgents have even managed to infiltrate southern areas of Ghana beyond Tamale. This is an alarming situation,” Pratt expressed.
Pratt attributed the instability prevalent in the West African sub-region to poor leadership in many of the affected countries, resulting in the rise of coups and insurgent activities.
