NDC Demonstration For Mahama To Win Power Unnecessary - Moshake
A former executive of the Tema East constituency branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is downplaying the ongoing demonstration by minority MPs to have the Governor of the Bank of Ghana removed as unnecessary.
In a social media write-up, Mr. Stephen Ashitey Adjei, alias Moshake, also says that the end beneficiary of the demonstration is also not worthy of the sweat and toil of the minority MPs.
“I personally would have joined my honourable MPs to demonstrate in the hot baking sun if the end beneficiary of the demonstration was anyone else but former president John Mahama,” Moshake wrote.
According to him, “but Mahama being the one who stands to benefit from the demonstration, I find it to be totally unnecessary and misplaced.”
Explaining, he said that former president John Mahama would not even be able to fix the problems of the country if he becomes president again.
“Because Mr. Mahama at best will only be able to serve for just one more term if he becomes president and I do not see why any of us should really be risking our health to put back into office, somebody who is frankly hamstringed by time. It is my bold prediction that if John Mahama becomes president again, he will not be able to do much.”
This being the case, it is Moshake’s position that the best way the Minority MPs can expend their energies is to have former President John Mahama substituted with someone else. The minority leader, Dr. Ato Forson and the Tamale South MP, Haruna Iddrissu are not bad.
“There are so many presidential materials in the NDC that frankly are more marketable than Mr. Mahama and would have a better prospect of not only winning the 2024 elections, but also keeping the NDC in power for 8 years. Even from the top of my head, I can name the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Dr. Ekow Spio Gabrah, former Trade Minister, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman of NDC and Sylvester Mensah former NHIS boss among others. Why won’t the NDC change Mr. Mahama with one of these many presidential materials instead, so that all of these struggles will be worth it?”
Emphasizing that he has nothing personal against John Mahama, Moshake wrote that his suggestion is all about safeguarding the party’s future, and the future of the hardworking executives of the party.
“Because we have a precedent, we have seen Mr. Mahama in power before and we all know how he neglected all of us. If in the eight years that Mahama was Vice President and president he neglected us in the party, is it when he becomes president for only four years that he will mind us?” Moshake asked.
Nevertheless, Moshake praised the efforts of the Minority MPs who took part in the #OccupyBoG demonstration saying it shows their undying loyalty to the party.
“However, I wish they had decided to take these long walks in the hot sun for their own exercise, rather than in an attempt to make John Mahama president again,” Moshake wrote.
