Special Prosecutor Is Doing God’s Work - Mike offei

In response to the obvious frustration that Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, has expressed about the multiple blocks that he has experienced for his cases at the courts, and his hint that he might resign, respected international diplomat, Mr. Michael Yaw Offei has urged him not to quit.

In an interview with journalists in Tema, Mr. Mike Offei, who has worked with both the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank said the reason why Mr. Agyebeng cannot quit is that he is doing God’s work.

“Any fight against corruption is a divine one because corruption is evil and of the devil,” he said.

Consequently, he said, “Mr. Agyebeng cannot quit because doing so would amount to capitulating to the forces of evil.”

Mr. Mike Offei was speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a programme that was held to confer a citation on him by the men’s fellowship of the Tema Joint Church on Sunday, 26th of November, 2023 in Tema.

His response comes after Mr. Agyebeng had held a press conference and lamented that he is being frustrated by the courts which wantonly grant injunctions against his applications and also easily dismisses some.

According to him, by their posturing, the courts are engendering in place a system where murderers and criminals can boldly walk to the court and secure injunctions without much efforts.

"As I said, I wasn't sounding like a prophet of doom but there is doom looming ahead of us, that very soon a murderer will boldly walk to go to seek an injunction. Should I feel frustrated and resign? I took an oath and, in my life, when I take on the reins to do something, I do it to the best of my ability,” Mr. Agyebeng stressed.

But responding, Mr. Mike Offei pointed out that if Mr. Agyebeng resigns he would be throwing in the towel to the forces of evil who already have succeeded in hounding the first Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, from office.

These same forces that he is fighting, he said, deliberately frustrated and fought Martin Amidu. If he gives up, it will be an encouragement to those who are bent on ensuring that the mechanisms of accountability do not work.

“He should stay on and fight for God and country,” Mr. Mike Offei advised.

Meanwhile, former Auditor General, Daniel Yaw Domelevo has also urged Mr. Kissi Agyebeng not to quit.
