Akufo-Addo, Bawumia’s level of corruption stinking – Basintale
Malik Basintale, NDC Deputy National Communication Officer, has launched a scathing attack on the ruling government, accusing President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia of being the most corrupt leaders Ghana has ever had.
In an interview on GHOne TV, Basintale criticized the government’s handling of corruption, saying, “216 pages of their manifesto, corruption appeared only three times. It is an indication that their conscience was fighting them when they were writing their manifesto.”
Basintale also questioned the government’s commitment to fighting corruption, pointing to the Special Prosecutor’s office as an example. “That office was what passed a verdict on Alhaji Bawumia to have stolen 10,000 bucks of ‘salah rice’ from the port, all in the name of his administrator Kirk Osei. But today, also Kirk Osei is still at the helm of affairs.”
Mr. Basintale further alleged that the government’s corruption has gone unchecked, saying, “Ameri, innovation scandal. We brought Ameri, 510 billion. Akufo Addo on the 31st of July traveled to ECOWAS for a meeting. So he decided to test Bawumia to see whether he’s learned corruption on the job.”
The NDC Deputy National Communication officer emphasized that the party will not tolerate corruption, saying, “Akufo-Addo and Bawumia’s corruption has stunk the country. We are saying that the only corrupt entity, the only corrupt leadership we’ve had in this country is Akufo-Addo and Bawumia and their corruption history is there.”
Mr. Basintale’s comments come amid growing concerns about corruption in Ghana, with several high-profile scandals rocking the government in recent months.
The NDC has been vocal in its criticism of the government’s handling of corruption, and Basintale’s comments are the latest in a series of attacks on the ruling party.
The government has yet to respond to Basintale’s allegations, but the issue of corruption is likely to remain a major talking point in the lead-up to the next general election.
Basintale’s statement highlights the NDC’s determination to hold the government accountable for its actions and to fight against corruption in all its forms.
