Bawumia’s 50,000 CCTV Cameras Promise is Another Policy That Outshines Mahama -Tema MCE
The Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Yohane Amarh Ashitey, has applauded the promise by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, that his government will install 50,000 close circuit television cameras (CCTV) around the country to improve security.
In a social media post, the MCE wrote that that outlook shows that Dr. Bawumia is in touch with the real issues on the ground and has therefore been thinking up real practical solutions to the country’s problems.
“Vice President Bawumia is far ahead of former President John Mahama in terms of creative ideations and this promise is the latest proof,” Hon. Yohane Amarh Ashitey wrote on Friday, August 30, 2024.
According to him, “this promise jells with the theme of the Bawumia campaign, which is that to lead is to solve, not like Mr. John Mahama whose promise of a 24-hour economy has been difficult for even his own party communicators to explain.”
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, pledged to install 50,000 CCTV cameras across major towns in Ghana to enhance security and combat crime while campaigning in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency of the Greater Accra region.
According to him, a study by security agencies has shown that 50,000 CCTV cameras are needed to cover all roads in regional and district capitals of the country.
The NPP’s 2024 presidential candidate noted that although the government has started installing CCTV cameras, not all streets have been covered, and so it will be a policy of his government to take up from where the current government leaves off.
“Unlike Mr. John Mahama whose 24-hour economy promise is not really based on any verifiable research, Dr. Bawumia’s promise is informed by real statistics and data that security agencies have provided,” the Tema MCE wrote.
This, he said is because Dr. Bawumia is interested in the real bread and butter issues that Ghanaians deal with on a daily basis.
“Without security, no country can truly progress, everybody knows that, and so the question is not whether there are security challenges or not; the challenge is how to think up solutions that are practicable and fit for purposes, not throwing about fanciful words like 24-hour economy which sound beautiful, but really mean nothing,” Yohane Amarh Ashitey wrote.
He called on all Ghanaians to take time and sift through the policies of the two leading candidates in the 2024 presidential race and “decide for yourself what is practical and what is not; and then vote accordingly.”
Yohane Amarh Ashitey, who enjoys massive support in Tema East stated that “Dr. Bawumia has won the presidential election in advance because of the good works of the NPP government, Mr. John Mahama should come and look at the massive support of the NPP at “Kpeledzoo tsoshishi” in Tema Manhean. NDC should come and look at how NPP is attractive to the good people of Tema”.
