Tema MCE Beats NDC MP in a Campaign of Floats

The ruling New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for Tema East in the Greater Accra region, Yohane Amarh Ashitey, has asserted his superiority over the metropolis in what can be described as parliamentary campaign of floats.

Months after the sitting MP and the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for Tema East, Isaac Ashai Odamtten, held his float, Yohane Amarh Ashitey, finally held his and it was mega.

More than thrice the number of souls which turned out for Hon. Odamtten’s float turned out for the MCE’s own.

And not only did they turn out, they mobbed the MCE like an Arabian king and finally shut the mouths of the NDC’s members and supporters who had been running their mouths about the mammoth crowd that they had pulled in the middle of the year.

Now, from the expectation that Hon. Ashai Odamtten would easily retain his seat, the NDC is said to be in fear that the NPP is returning for the seat which had dominated for six terms before a split led to the loss of the seat in 2020.

It was not only the towns-folk who thronged the float on Sunday, which glided through the principal streets of Tema East, also in attendance were NPP big wigs, including the Greater Accra regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover.

Others were executives of the NPP in the constituency, fisherfolk, youth and women alike.

The float settled at the Kpeledzoo Tsoshishi at Tema Manhean where Hon. Yohane Amarh Ashitey and other leading members of the party gave addresses.

“December 7 is less than three weeks away and the turnout that we have here is loud enough message to our opponents in the NDC,” Yohane Amarh Ashitey said to wild applause.

Reminding that Tema East is almost a safe seat for the NPP, he reported that the divisions that gave the NDC the chance to win the seat in 2020 are no longer existent in the party.

“We are now totally united for victory and I can report to you that if you turn up to vote on December 7, you will not be putting back into parliament, a Tema East NPP that is divided, but one that is solidly united for your development.”

He added that, “all you need to do to complete this incredible message that you have sent the NDC with your numbers today is to similarly pour out on election day and vote for Dr. Bawumia and Yohane Amarh Ashitey for president and MP respectively.”

On his part, Hon. Titus Glover said that Ghana is now at a crossroads between progress and backslide.

“the choice is between digital and analogue a Bawumia presidency as we already know, will offer digitalization while a Mahama one will offer you village style poultry farming; the choice is yours,” he said to wild applause.

Those in attendance at the colourful ceremony include Nene Ofoe Teye-Chu Agbadiagba IV, constituency chairman, Mr. Stephen Aboagye, 2nd vice chairman of tema east NPP and Gilbert Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, constituency youth organizer.
