Rugby League Federation Ghana Unveils Action-Packed 2025 Season
The Rugby League Federation Ghana (RLFG) has officially launched its 2025 rugby league season, unveiling a robust calendar designed to propel the sport to greater heights in the country. With a focus on development, inclusivity, and community engagement, the Federation is set to deliver a groundbreaking season that promises excitement for players, fans, and stakeholders alike.
Season Kickoff and Key Activities
The 2025 season will commence in January with coaching and officiating courses aimed at maintaining high standards of training and match management. This will be followed by a series of competitions, strategic stakeholder engagements, and community-driven events, culminating in the prestigious President’s Cup and an Awards Dinner in November.
Among the standout events are:
February: E-Rugby League Competition and Stakeholder Engagement on the 2025–2030 Strategy.
April: U13 and U16 Inter-Schools Competitions in Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions.
May: Launch of the 13s League for Men, Women, and Youth, alongside the Mayhem Tournament.
September: World Cleanup Day & Beach Clean-Up as part of community initiatives.
November: The highly anticipated President’s Cup and End-of-Year Planning.
Madam Juliana Storey, President of RLFG, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming season; “The 2025 season represents a significant step in our journey to expand rugby league in Ghana. This year’s calendar reflects our commitment to nurturing talent at all levels, promoting inclusivity, and building a strong sense of community.”
General Manager Jafaru A. Mustapha added: "The diverse activities planned will challenge our players, enhance their skills, and create unforgettable moments for fans. The 2025 season is set to be a cornerstone in the growth of rugby league in Ghana.”
A key highlight of the season is the emphasis on youth engagement and grassroots development, exemplified by inter-school competitions and strategic stakeholder engagements. Additionally, sustainability initiatives, such as beach clean-ups during World Cleanup Day, underline RLFG’s commitment to social responsibility.
