    GRA's Wounds Deepen by Exchequers

Once revered as league giants, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) looked a shadow of themselves in Week 11 of the ongoing Salphoda Hockey League as they were dismantled 7-0 by rivals Exchequers at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Pitch.

After a narrow 2-1 loss to Police in their previous outing, GRA came into the clash wounded but hopeful only to be rendered completely toothless by a ruthless Exchequers side that gave them no breathing space.

It took just under three minutes for the defending champions to concede the opener. They managed to hold off further damage until the end of the second quarter, but everything collapsed in the third.

From missed tackles to disjointed passes and poor goalkeeping, GRA simply lost their shape and spirit. Goals poured in through penalty corners, field plays, and even a penalty stroke, as Exchequers ran riot and showed no mercy.

Captain Eugene Acheampong didn’t mince words in his post-match reflection; "it was just not our day. Nothing worked for us tactically. They were the better side,” he admitted.

“Our hard work wasn’t enough. We have a lot of work to do. A full-time assessment is what we need right now to bounce back. We have to redeem ourselves and make our top officials, management, coaches, and loyal supporters proud.”

He also linked their collapse to the lingering effect of their earlier losses; “I think the defeat to Police affected us. We couldn’t wake up from that. Some of the goals we conceded today could have been prevented. I know we’re doing our best — but right now, our best is not enough.”

With two back-to-back losses, GRA now face the harsh reality of falling off the title race with lots of pressure on them
