    Sports Minister Commends Ghana’s Record-Breaking Feat at Africa Armwrestling Championship

    The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams has lauded the Ghana Armwrestling Team, the Golden Arms, for their historic performance at the 2025 Africa Armwrestling Championship held in Abuja, Nigeria.

    Ghana’s team clinched a remarkable 53 medals comprising 24 gold, 20 silver, and 9 bronze cementing its status as a continental powerhouse in the sport. Hon. Adams, speaking on behalf of the Ministry and the Government of Ghana, praised the athletes’ dedication and the Ghana Armwrestling Federation’s sustained investment in grassroots development and strategic partnerships.

    "This achievement is a testament to Ghana’s competitive edge on the continental stage and highlights armwrestling as one of the country's most consistent medal-winning sports," he said.

    He also acknowledged the vital role of corporate and public-sector support in areas such as insurance, health services, logistics, and athlete preparation. According to the Minister, these collaborative efforts were instrumental in preparing the team for the championship and underscore the value of public-private partnerships in sports development.

    Hon. Adams further assured the Federation and its athletes of the government’s continued support as they set their sights on the 2027 African Games and other global assignments.

    Describing the team’s journey as inspiring, the Minister called on Ghanaians to rally behind the Golden Arms and channel their success into future victories. “Let us celebrate this success and channel the same collective energy into the next phase of Ghana’s sporting journey,” he urged.

    The Golden Arms’ success story continues to inspire a generation, showing what can be achieved with discipline, vision, and unity.
