Ghana Para-Powerlifting Launches “LiftBeyondLimits” Talent Hunt in Cape Coast

The Ghana Para-Powerlifting Association, under the auspices of the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana (NPC-Ghana), has successfully launched its National Talent Hunt initiative dubbed “LiftBeyondLimits – A New Hope Through Para-Powerlifting” with a vibrant event at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The initiative seeks to scout and develop new para-powerlifting talent across the country, providing individuals with physical impairments—often sidelined by society and burdened with self-doubt—an opportunity to regain confidence and pursue sporting excellence.

The event brought together over 35 persons with impairments from the Central Region. By the close of the program, 12 determined and talented athletes had been selected for further training and development to potentially represent Ghana in national and international competitions.

The coaching team was led by Head Coach Prince Nyarko, assisted by George Ohene-Adu and Ghana’s National Paralympian, Tahiru Haruna. Beyond scouting talent, the program also contributed to building a more accurate national database of para-powerlifting participants.

The Ghana Para-Powerlifting Association expressed appreciation to NPC-Ghana President, Samson Deen, Dr. Abena Tannor and other key stakeholders for their immense support in making the program a success.
