Drake and Cardi B lead the AMA nominations

The 2018 American Music Awards nominations are in and Drizzy and Cardi have received eight nods each.

Cardi B will go up against Camila Cabello, Khalid, Dua Lipa and the late XXXTentacion for new artist of the year, while Drake must fend off competition from Imagine Dragons, Post Malone, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift for the big one: Artist of the year.

It’s also Drake v Ed v Taylor in the battle for favourite album – pop/rock.

Taylor and Ed were out hiking when they received the news on the nominations.

The Reputation star posted a video of them both in motion modestly declaring “You’re gonna win”, before settling on: “Drake’s gonna win…”

Tay Tay, still on the move, then proceeded to then rip into an apparently out of breath Ed.

“It’s called exercise… have you ever done cardio?”

“Now and again” Ed responded.

“Strumming a guitar doesn’t count!”

Ouch. With friends like that who needs enemies?

The video on her Instagram was posted alongside the message: “Safe to say whoever wins the AMA for fav pop/rock album will be an artist who writes songs about love and heartbreak.”

The AMA Awards, which are mostly voted for by fans, take place on 9 October in LA.
