Former President John Dramani Mahama has encouraged Christians to put a smile on the faces of those going through torrid times as they celebrate the Easter festivities.
In a Facebook post to mark resurrection Sunday on 4 April 2021, Mr Mahama noted that just as Christians are today remembering that Christ was put to death but resurrected, they must also carry an enduring hope and belief that in all situations they shall overcome and be victorious.
The full post read: “He is Risen!
“Best wishes to you all on the occasion of Easter, a foundational pillar of Christianity.
“The Easter story bears profound inspiration not only for Christians but also for humanity. Just as Christ was put to death but resurrected in glory and victory for us, we also carry an enduring hope and belief that in all situations we find ourselves, we shall overcome them and be victorious.
“As we spend time with friends and family, let us in our own small way reach out and put a smile on the faces of those going through torrid times.
“Lordina and I wish you a Joyful Easter!”
Earlier on Good Friday, Mr Mahama had urged Ghanaians to use the occasion of Easter to forgive one another.
That post read: “They whipped him. They spat on him. They mocked him. They treated him like a criminal. Drained of all strength, they forced him to carry a heavy cross. And then although he had committed no crime, they crucified him.
“But bloodied and disgraced on the cross at Calvary, he, out of a pure heart, forgave them.
As we commemorate the crucifixion of our Lord on Good Friday, may we reflect on His gift of sacrifice and embrace his enduring lesson of forgiveness.
“Let us forgive one another and move on in unity.
“From my wife, Lordina and I, we wish you a blessed and most glorious Easter.”
