The Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee has imposed a fine of GHS10,000 on Elmina Sharks FC.
This comes after supporters of the club entered the inner perimeter and assaulted the Centre Referee in their Ghana Premier League match against Medeama SC recently.
According to the ruling, the Elmina side broke the GFA Disciplinary codes as a result of their misconduct.
It was, therefore, decided that a fine GH¢10,000 be “imposed on Elmina Sharks FC in accordance with Article 37(1)(b) of the GFA Premier League Regulations”.
Refusal to pay the fine to the GFA within 14 days upon receipt of the ruling, will mean that “Elmina Sharks FC shall forfeit the club’s matches after the said deadline”.
“Elmina Sharks FC and the club supporters are warned that any future misconduct shall receive a more severe punishment,” the ruling further indicated.
However, the club would have to appeal to the GFA’s Appeals Committee within two days of being notified of the ruling, if it is dissatisfied, the ruling stated.
