Families of kidnapped girls call off demo

Families of the three Takoradi kidnapped girls have suspended a planned demonstration intended to pile pressure on the Police Service to rescue the victims.

The inability of the Police and other security agencies to find the girls who were kidnapped last year has resulted in increased criticisms and apprehension.

An online petition to mount pressure on the Police Service has received over 1000 signatures.

Speaking to Takoradi based Empire FM, Sister of one of the Victims Linda Quayeson explained that they have suspended the demonstration because the Police Service has assigned personnel to provide them constant updates of the case.

“We have postponed the demonstration because we are living everything to Child Rights International, they are trying their best to solve this issue for us so we have to give them the respect and cancel everything and we hope to hear good news.”

“Yesterday, a Police Officer called my mom telling her that they will come here and truly they came and told us that they have assigned three policemen who will be giving us information. And in case we want to hear anything concerning the issue they are giving their numbers to us we can call them anytime. So we hope to hear good news very soon. That is the reason why we’ve postponed the demonstration,” Linda Quayeson added.
