Nigerian actress, Tonto Dikeh, has sounded a word of caution to women within their reproductive stage, that they should control conception to ensure they give birth to the number of children they can cater for.
The mother of one, took advantage of the World Population Day celebration which was observed worldwide on July 11, to admonish women to take charge of their conception, and not succumb to the pressure of partners and society.
She noted that it was pointless to give birth to many children when one does not have the resources to take care of them.
Tonto indicated that when children are born to parents who are not capable of providing their needs, it hurts their overall perspective to life.
She, thus, admonished women to ensure they employ the appropriate family planning methods together with their partners to check the number of children they can handle to ensure the children live well.
Sharing her views on her IG page she said, “Children are a blessing to the world, however, in procreating we should not bite more than we can chew. It shouldn’t hurt to be a child. Children’s rights are human rights! “

Yesterday was Wworld Population Day, a day celebrated annually on 11th July. It is a United Nations Initiative to raise the awareness of increasing population day to day. In 1989, the governing council of the United Nations Development Programme recommended that 11th July should be observed as World Population Day. The theme for 2018 is *“Family Planning is Human Right”.* This theme for the first time stresses that women can refuse to have multiple pregnancies placed too close if they want. It gives a response to the 50-year-old legislation which also states the same. Children are a blessing to the world, however, in procreating we should not bite more than we can chew. It shouldn’t hurt to be a child. Children’s rights are human rights! *#FamilyPlanningIsHumanRight*
