Father of defiled girl accuses Tesano DOVVSU police

Michael Ametor, father of a seven year-old girl who has been defiled by her own uncle has made an unfortunate accusation against police in-charge of Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) name withheld, for allegedly taking “lunch allowance” from him after he went to their outfit to report a case against his nephew who has defiled his daughter.

Narrating the incident to Okay FM on Monday, he said, he travelled for a while and on his return he was told by his wife that she had noticed their daughter putting her hands in her underwear from time to time.

Upon questioning her, she found out that her husband’s nephew who comes to visit occasionally, had had intimate encounter with their seven-year-old daughter.

According to Mr. Ametor who is a plumber by profession, they took the child to the hospital for treatment but were referred to pick forms at Tesano DOVVSU because it was a defilement case.

He said that after filing a report and picking a medical form, he was asked by the female police in charge to give them something for lunch, and his sister who had accompanied him gave her an unspecified amount of money.

He added that, they had to fuel the vehicle that was used in the process to arrest his nephew who had committed the act.

After that the police who went with them to pick up the culprit also demanded something, so he had to give them GHc150.00.

Meanwhile, the desperate father indicated that the defilement has caused grave damage to his daughter who urgently needs surgical procedures to correct damage to some tissues in her reproductive system due to the heinous act of his nephew who claimed to have done it under the influence of alcohol.

The culprit as of the time of filing this report had been remanded pending further investigations and prosecution.
