Former Ghana International, John Paintsil has waded into the brouhaha surrounding Ghana’s controversial win over South Africa in last Sunday’s clash.
Speaking to “Ghana Yenso Mu Under 8 Mins”, the former Premiere League star observed that the Black Stars played well and hence he strongly believes, there won’t be a rematch as their opponents are seeking to achieve.
“The match was over the moment the referee blew the last whistle. They can take the matter anywhere, it will come to naught. The match has been decided and Ghana won it fairly,” John Paintsil averred.
Ghana’s Black Stars narrowly won by 1-0 against South Africa to clinch top slot in Group G in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The results of the match has since sparked a lot of debate after SA Football Association president Danny Jordaan accused Ghana of match-fixing.
The Association followed the accusation up with a complaint to international football governing body, FIFA, which is currently investigating the matter.
