Franklin Cudjoe barks at Anas over GFA video

President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe has taken issue with investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, for allowing President Akufo-Addo to view the yet-to-be aired documentary.

He argues that since the name of the president was mentioned in the video, it was wrong to have given him the exclusive right to view it before the advertised public showing.

“I’m not questioning motives; I’m just saying that the way this thing plays out is different when there is an executive viewing where top leaders in the country together with the presidency and his ministers were watching, it gives it some level of authenticity.”

“I don’t think the judges got this snip preview or even the persons who were affected by the judges’ decision got previews of the video,” Mr Cudjoe said on Citi FM on Saturday.

The documentary titled, “Number 12” which is expected to be aired on June 6, 2018 at the Accra International Conference Center is centered on football and politics.

Franklin Cudjoe added: “According to Mr Kweku Baako, there was apparently some gentleman’s agreement to the extent that the president was to take a view of the video; I think that process is fundamentally flawed.

“If indeed you have done your work, and you wanted everybody to see it, showing it to a certain group of people, per their class or because they have been mentioned actually gives them opportunity and time to prepare their statements and alibis, which is exactly what this seems to play out.”

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi was on Wednesday arrested over fraud allegations.

It follows a complaint by President Akufo-Addo to the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service that the FA boss was using the President’s name fraudulently.

The president watched excerpts of an investigative piece by ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, dubbed “Number 12” in which Mr Nyantakyi was seen negotiating for an amount of money using the name of the president.

He has since been invited by the police.
