Gabby backtracks on ‘times are hard’ comment
Gabby Asare Otchere Darko has backpedaled on him claim that “times are hard” under the current prevailing conditions in the country.
Last week, the die in the wool NPP politician is quoted to have said that “there is hardship, there is unemployment, and, it is fair to say that the majority of our people continue to struggle to make ends meet”.
Interestingly, the nephew of President Akufo-Addo has made a sharp u-turn painting an entirely different picture of the current state of the economy.
He now says the gloomy state of the Ghanaian economy is a mere rhetoric as the economy is actually doing well.
“If you follow the news, you are likely to believe that the economy is performing worse now than it did in 2017 or 2016.
“But, in essence, the opposite is rather the case. It is getting stronger and not on steroids,” he tweeted yesterday.
It is unclear what inspired the sudden change in his tune on the country’s economy but industry watchers believe Gabby has got some insider information on some drastic measure by ruling government to fix the problems bedeviling the economy.
