GFA to hold emergency meeting over violence at match venues

The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) will meet on Wednesday, July 7 at the Boardroom of the GFA Secretariat.

The Council’s emergency meeting, according to the GFA, has been necessitated by the recent incidents of violence at some match venues.

The GFA is expected to come out with an official statement after Wednesday’s meeting and outline ways of curbing the violence.

The meeting is expected to begin at 11 am.

On 4 July 2021, a game between B. A United and Real Tamale United at the Coronation Park in Sunyani ended prematurely as centre referee Maxwell Hansen was assaulted by fans of B.A United.

They claimed the referee had awarded a dubious penalty against their side in the division one league match.

The assault has been widely condemned by authorities of the game.
