GHALCA chairman backs gov’t for dissolving GFA

Ghana League Clubs Association of Ghana (GHALCA) president, Kudjoe Fianoo has disclosed that Government has done the right thing after it was confirmed yesterday that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has been dissolved.

Following long calls from many football stakeholders as well as cries from ordinary Ghanaians for the GFA to be dissolved, Government finally took action yesterday, some 24 hours after the premier of the Number 12 documentary by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and dissolved the football federation.

The Number 12 video which reveals the rot and corruption surrounding the football Governing body highlighted how referees, the association that appoints the referees, National Sports Authority, up to the higher office of the presidency involved themselves in shady deals to manipulate the outcome of matches and events of the game loved so much by Ghanaians.

Kudjoe Fianoo whiles speaking on Asempa also explained that from what is seen in the documentary, any other Government will do the same thing if they found themselves in the same situation.

“Any Government will do the same thing looking at the situation we find ourselves”.

He also added that looking at the situation our football finds itself in and the stir and tension the Number 12 expose has raised, it is was a necessary decision that needed to be taken no matter the cost. He is of the view that the dissolution of the GFA will allow us to build from the ground and allow for restructuring.

The Chairman of GHALCA further revealed that GHALCA and past football administrators will have a meeting today to deliberate on issues and how best to act moving forward. It is likely that after today they will ask for an audience with the President to present to him their grievances.
