Ghana draw goalless with Niger in WAFU U-17 Championship

The Black Starlets of Ghana played a goalless draw game with Niger in their opening match of the WAFU U17 Championship on Wednesday evening.

Despite dominating the game, the country’s U-17 side could not pick up the three maximum points.

Frimpong Eugene Adjei failed to convert a penalty to put Ghana ahead after he blew his penalty over the bar.

A foul in the box by a Nigerien defender saw the centre referee awarding a Ghana a penalty.

The midfielder could not make use of the chance awarded to the Black Starlets as he shot off target to keep Niger in the game.

The home side who needed victory to progress to the next round after drawing 0-0 with Togo in their opening match took over the second period of the game.

The Black Starlets will now take on Togo in their next game on Friday.
