Gloomy! Okomfour Kwadee left to rot in mental hospital
Jerry Anaba otherwise known as Okomfour Kwadee who was once upon a time Ghana’s best ‘satiric’ rapper is experiencing turbulent moments in his life.
Kwadee punched his way to stardom in the early 2000s despite the dominance of the likes of Obrafour, Reggie Rockstone, Akyeame and a host of others.
After providing the industry with hit songs like “Ofie Nipa”, “Nkran Kwan So”, “Obaa no” and others, his rather impressive career suddenly came to an abrupt end after suffering from mental health issues in 2013.
But media reports on Wednesday suggested that the hiplife maestro had been abandoned at a rehabilitation center, Wiling Ways Foundation, for the past three years.
A report monitored by Asempanews.com on Taabea TV indicated that Kwadee’s mother has refused to pay him a visit in three years – a situation the founder of the facility, Lydia Abena Manu bemoaned.
Abena Manu reveals Kwadee’s fellow musician friends, who used to check on him regularly have all stopped passing through.
“I provide him with shelter, food and many other things he needs but his family members, his fellow musicians, the Ghana Music Right Organization (GHAMRO) and the Musicians Union of Ghana association (MUSIGA) have abandoned him. They’ve never paid him a visit”, she is quoted as saying.
