Headmaster of Miawani L/A Primary School cries for help

The headmaster of Miawani L / A primary school in Suhum municipality in the Eastern region have expressed worries about the deplorable and death trap state of the school. The headmaster Mr. Emmanuel Adakpo is calling for urgent steps to address the infrastructure challenges threatening the existence of the School.

The challenges, he lamented, have turned the school into death trap that continue to pose serious risks to both students and pupils. He made the appeal in interaction with Kessben Fm news reporter, who visited the School as part of a monitoring exercise to ascertain the state of the School’s infrastructure which remains a concern to staff, students and parents.

From class one to class five, the total enrolment is about s 45, some parents has been withdrawn their children all because of the infrastructure of the School.

He added that, we are only three teachers who teach from class one to five, aim of the teachers is to give each and everyone the equal opportunity to quality education. No accommodation for the teachers. This school was established 1990 (28 years ago),and observing its current state poses a threat to its occupants.

Some of the parents said the facility is yet to see any facelift since its construction in so many years ago, and from observation of its current state poses a threat to their children. They added that, the roofing sheets were ripped off, the school block, due to its dilapidated status, is a death trap and thus making teaching and learning difficult. Speaking to Kessben Fm news, they appealed to the government to come and do something about it.

As I Grow (AIG) undoubtedly one of Ghana’s fast-growing non-governmental organization (NGO) has made a donation to the Miawani L / A primary school a remote village in the Eastern region. Items donated to the school include exercise books, pens, white writing boards, footballs, among others. Mr. Debrah Bekoe Isaac, the chief executive officer (CEO) of As I Grow (AIG) foundation speaking to Kessben Fm news reporter, said the aim of the donation is to give each and everyone the equal opportunity to quality education. As we all know education has become the lifeline of every nation now either we believe it or not so we are trying as much as possible to let people know the importance of education.

Therefore I want to use this platform to call on stakeholders and other organizations to join hands with government, help build the school blocks for this community because this is the only way to ensure better future for the up and coming ones.
