Peeved Madina traders have labeled Minister for Inner-City and Zongo Development, Boniface Abubakar Siddique and the ruling NPP as a non-performing assets as they have failed to fulfil their campaign pledge.
Their outrage stems from a decision by the Madina Council in the La Nkwantanang Municipality to move them from their previous location (along the Madina –Adenta Highway) to a secured site behind the Madina Tema station.
The relocation, Asempanews.com gathered, has stalled due to attempts by some persons, including Nigerian traders, who have allegedly bribed their way through to secure better locations at the new market – a situation which has resulted in the fracas.
Sharing their frustrations with this reporter, the traders say they are irked by the deafening silence of the Zongo Minister and the Municipal Chief Executive on the matter.
The claim the relocation has rendered them stranded as they were informed to move last week Friday but have not been settled after several days.
“We are telling government to intervene and ensure that we are settled otherwise we will vote them out, just as we voted them into power.
“Most of us are mothers who are catering for our children in schools, and this hitch which has rendered us idle is affecting us and our businesses.
“We have limited time to pay off loans and need to work so government and the appropriate authorities should come to our aid as we are suffering,” Nana Kalypo, a trader bemoaned.
