Popular singer, iOna Reine, says she has always sounded herself and never like the late Dancehall singer Ebony Reigns.
She disclosed this in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz 103.9 FM, after she was asked if she has now discovered herself in the music space since most Ghanaians bemoaned her for sounding like the late singer, Ebony, when she made her appearance in the limelight in 2020.
In responding to the question, the ‘Someha’ singer, who also doubles as a Professional Midwife, said she has always sounded like herself and never like Ebony.
She went on to say that people think that way as a result of her resemblance to the late singer.
“I don’t agree. I have always sounded like myself. I think that whole thing was like a certain psychology, when people lose someone they love and there is a little bit of that person in another person, they easily hear or look like that person for them psychologically so that was how they were making it up to be,” she said.
Based on this, she feels she has now found her path in the music industry since people are no longer on her neck for sounding like the late singer.
“I think I have found my path now because I don’t get that feedback too much like before,” she noted.
iOna Reine is known for songs like ‘Obra’, ‘Gyaime’ and ‘Man Down’.
She was on Daybreak Hitz today to promote her latest single titled “Could This Be Love”.
