I’m impressed despite World Cup exit – Mukarama Abdulai
Captain of the Black Maidens, Mukarama Abdulai says there were many positives to take away from the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup despite their exit from the competition.
Ghana were beaten on penalties by Mexico, after the game ended 2-2 after regulation time, despite the Maidens leading twice on Sunday evening.
However, the 17 year old, who scored 7 goals at the competition, breaking Jane Ayieyam’s record of the most goals scored by a Ghanaian at the competition, says she is comforted by her exploits at the competition.
“I’m very happy, although I’m also a bit sad that we didn’t win the ultimate prize. I set a record at the competition and I’m very proud of that,” she said.
“Scoring 7 goals at a world cup is a big achievement and I’m very happy.”
Mukarama is still 3 goals ahead of the nearest challenger for the top scorer award, and could still win it despite Ghana’s elimination.
